Bio
Edmund Gutierrez received his B.A. in Chemistry from Hunter College in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1995. Dr. Gutierrez is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Gutierrez has many years of experience in various industries, including printed circuit board technology, semiconductors, nanotechnology, materials science, and biotechnology. He also has several years of experience as an Adjunct Professor of general and organic chemistry. Dr. Gutierrez’s research experience is extensive, and includes nanoparticle design and synthesis, supramolecular assembly, transition metal and main group metal chemistry, metal-ligand chelation chemistry, conjugation and crosslinking chemistry, and separation science.
Before joining Scully Scott, Dr. Gutierrez gained several years of experience working as a Patent Agent in two other New York intellectual property law firms. Some of Dr. Gutierrez’s responsibilities included preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and worldwide, as well as assistance in providing patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate analysis.
Dr. Gutierrez’s expertise includes organic and inorganic chemistry, nanotechnology, molecular design, nanoparticle chemistry, nanotube technology, supramolecular self-assembly, metal-ligand coordination polymers, materials science, coatings, polymers, ionic liquids, and fuel cells.
