Silvia Solano received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Simón Bolívar University in Caracas, Venezuela. She then earned her MEng. in Environment and Mineral Resources from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, and her M.A. in Energy and Earth Resources from The University of Texas at Austin.
Mrs. Solano began her professional career in the oil and gas industry, gaining extensive experience in reservoir simulation, enhanced oil recovery, and CO2 storage. In 2013, after relocating from Texas to New York, she joined IBM as a Patent Engineer, marking the start of her career in Intellectual Property. During her 11-year tenure at IBM, she drafted over 150 patent applications to protect IBM’s innovations in specified technical areas across various technological domains, with a focus on microelectronics, semiconductor technologies, software, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, IoT, and social media. Mrs. Solano has successfully prosecuted numerous patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Currently, at Scully, Scott, Murphy & Presser, Mrs. Solano prepares patent applications in semiconductor technology. She is also fluent in Spanish.
